Where is Zack this week?

In this month’s Grower Spotlight, Zack is visiting a Lowcounty gem of a farm. Rosebank Farms, operated by Sidi Limehouse, is located on the far end of John’s Island and has been in business since 1975. The farm grows a variety of fruits and vegetables that supply the bustling restaurant scene in Charleston as well as local Johns’ Island residents and beach goers. Their produce stand sells their produce, cut flowers, seafood, and other local baked goods and handmade items. The produce stand sits at the entrance of Kiawah River and is a showpiece for the surrounding community. Sidi Limehouse is an excellent farmer and a great friend of Clemson Extension, our research scientists, and many local conservation groups. He won the 2019 Swisher International South Carolina Farmer of the Year Award. Sidi is always pushing the limits on what can be grown and how it is grown. At 86 years old he is constantly learning and trying new things. If you are in the area, please take some time to visit their stand and make a journey down the 3/4 mile entrance to Kiawah River Development, which is a great example of conservation, farming, and development all working together.

This week’s question is from Zack Snipes, Coastal Fruit and Vegetable Agent.
