August Grower Spotlight – The Happy Berry

Where is Briana visiting this week?

For this month’s Grower Spotlight, Briana is visiting a farm in the Upstate. The Happy Berry is nestled in the hills of Six Mile. The farm was started in 1979 with the goal of providing locally grown produce, while keeping the environment in mind. Walker Miller is the man in charge of keeping The Happy Berry going. He has many big plans for the farm, even for 100 years from now.

The farm grows blueberries, blackberries, muscadines, figs, and persimmons. You can choose to pick up some pre-harvested berries from the front porch of the farmhouse turned farm store, or go out and pick your own. The farm is open Monday through Friday, rain or shine, during the harvest season. You can also find their products at the Greenville, Greer, and Clemson Farmers’ Markets. You can find updates on their hours and availability of fruits on their website: http://www.thehappyberry.com/.
